How It Works

The Maize Milling Process — Step by Step

From raw maize intake to packaged corn flour — a fully integrated 6-stage process, engineered for consistency and yield.

🌽

Raw Maize Intake & Pre-Cleaning

Maize received from hoppers, pre-cleaned with aspirators and rotary sieves to remove dust, cobs and foreign matter

💧

Conditioning & Tempering

Moisture added and maize rested to soften the pericarp, improving de-germination efficiency and flour yield

⚙️

De-Germing

De-germ aspirators separate the germ (high oil content) from the endosperm — producing cleaner flour with longer shelf life

🔄

Roller Milling

Multiple break and reduction rolls progressively grind the conditioned maize into the required particle size fractions

🔀

Sifting & Purifying

Plansifters separate flour, grits, bran and germ fractions. Purifiers refine intermediate stocks for higher grade flours

📦

Bagging & Dispatch

Flour conveyed to bagging hoppers, packed in 1–50 kg bags, sealed and palletised for dispatch to retail or industry

What's Included in a Vezora Maize Mill

Our turnkey package covers every piece of equipment from raw intake to finished product dispatch — including all conveyors, elevators, ducting, electrical wiring and civil drawings. We do not hand over individual machines; we hand over a working plant.

All equipment is manufactured to international standards, pre-assembled and test-run at our partner facility in India before shipment. On arrival, our engineers handle mechanical assembly, electrical connection and commissioning.

Key Features & Benefits

Why Our Maize Mills Outperform the Competition

🌍

Africa-Optimised Design

Every plant is engineered for the specific conditions of the destination country — voltage fluctuations, raw maize moisture content, humidity levels, and operator skill. Equipment is not simply copied from European specs; it is re-engineered for African realities.

📈

High Flour Extraction Rate

Our multi-passage roller mill configuration achieves 68–75% flour extraction from maize — compared to 55–62% from simple hammer mills. This directly reduces raw material cost per kg of output, improving profitability from day one.

Low Power Consumption

Designed for energy efficiency — our 100 TPD plant consumes just 35–45 kWh per ton of maize processed. Fully compatible with generator backup, with soft-start motor controllers to minimise peak load and fuel consumption.

🏗️

Modular & Expandable

Start with a 25 TPD capacity and scale to 100 TPD by adding modules — without rebuilding the civil structure or replacing core equipment. Our expansion-ready layout design protects your capital investment long-term.

🧪

Fortification-Ready

All plants can be configured with an inline premix feeder system for vitamin and mineral fortification of maize flour — compliant with CODEX Alimentarius and WFP/USAID fortification standards, enabling access to institutional buyers.

🔧

Simple Maintenance & Local Spares

Designed for minimal downtime — wearing parts (roller shells, sieve frames, bucket elevator belts) are standardised and stocked locally through Vezora's Spare Parts vertical. AMC contracts ensure planned maintenance, not reactive breakdowns.

Frequently Asked Questions — Maize Milling Plants for Africa

Common questions about maize milling and corn flour production equipment supply across Africa.

What capacity maize milling plants does Vezora supply?

We supply maize milling plants from 10 TPD (tonnes per day) for small community mills up to 500 TPD for large commercial operations, including hammer mills, roller mills, degermination lines and posho mills.

Which African countries do you supply maize milling equipment to?

We regularly supply maize milling plants to Zambia, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and South Africa.

Do you supply complete turnkey maize flour production lines?

Yes. We deliver end-to-end maize milling projects — plant design, equipment manufacturing in India, shipping, installation, commissioning and operator training.

What is the difference between a hammer mill and a roller mill?

Hammer mills produce whole maize meal quickly and are cost-effective for smaller operations, while roller mills produce refined, degermed maize flour with higher yield and are used in larger commercial plants.

How much does a maize milling plant cost?

Cost depends on capacity and automation level. A small maize mill (10-50 TPD) typically starts from USD 80,000, while larger fully automated posho mill lines can range higher. Contact us with your required capacity for an exact quote.
